Bikram Yoga – Detox And Revitalize Your Body
Bikram Choudhury designed a system of Yoga call Bikram Yoga. It was created from the more traditional Yoga techniques. One interesting feature of Bikram yoga is that it is generally practiced in a heated room. (About 40.5C or 105F) This kind of Yoga is all about providing general well being and has 26 exercises as well as two breathing exercises. The heat from the room, among other benefits, will greatly aid the muscles while stretching.
Each of the 26 poses will be performed once and then repeated to increase the stretching even further and to help you gain confidence with the stretch. The heat helps to lubricate joints but don’t overdo it as it is easy to think you can stretch further than you really can.
The heated room will cause you to sweat quite profusely, and as the class usually goes for 90 minutes you’ll want to make sure you have water on hand incase you start to dehydrate. Sweating is a good way to flush toxins out of the body, but in order to do so you will need to keep up your fluid intake.
How Bikram yoga Can Help:

Heat during pranayama plays an important role. As you take in hot air the minute bacteria in the wind pipe etc are killed and thus protect you from many diseases. It prepares you mentally and physically for meditation. It increases concentration level. Thus the concept of heat works effectively in yoga and pranayama.
Due to the level of sweat during the 90 minute class a special mat is often used. It is a mat with a high friction level to stop you from slipping while performing the poses.
Bikram Yoga is probably one of the better ways to get a work out, have fun and relieve stress.
